This may sound pretty lame to most collectors, but I just got myself a Hot Toys' Truetype Figure 38, aka the caucasian 'nekkid' 1/6th scale body dubbed as 'Tom" by many (due to that strong resemblance to a certain sofa-jumpin' actor!). It was a toss between getting "Tom" or the later version of the Figure 38 (I think that one resembles the headsculpt used for the male ERT figure some time back).....but it came down to one beaming question posed by my wife...."Which one looks more good-looking and resembles more like a celebrity?".....and the answer to my predicament was clear...I HAD to pick "Tom" for his sheer 'star-power'....heheheh!
For the record, I never planned to become a customiser of 1/6th scale figures. A buddy of mine recently caught the 'kit-bashing' bug and went on a buying frenzy purchasing 1/6th scale parts through eBay and the likes! I'm just happy to purchase a 12" figure as it is! But it's just me. Too lazy to customize and to hunt down specific parts.
Sometime back, I hatched a plan in my mind about a 12" action figure, but not to customize nor to kitbash any particular movie characters or iconic figures. That thought coupled with the fact that that same 'kitbashing buddy' of mine mentioned earlier offered to buy an existing 12" 'nekkid' body that I currently utilize for a specific 'figure' (I think it's a Dragon or a BBi, not really sure!) warrants me to get the Truetype Figure 38 now more than ever. To my surprise, the Truetype Figure is really flexible and has excellent articulation possibilities, so I guess the price tag is justifiable.
What figure do I need 'Tom" for you ask? Guess you gotta wait and see, mon amies!
