Well, it's a done deal then. After months of speculating and false alarms, Sony Pictures finally made up their mind and awarded the role of Spidey/Pete Parker to Brit actor by the name of Andrew Garfield. Excerpt from a press release on Deadline's webpage:
"After a comprehensive worldwide casting search, Andrew Garfield has been chosen to portray Peter Parker when Spider-Man swings back onto the screen in 3D on July 3, 2012. They will begin production in early December directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt. Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad will produce the film from Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios."
If ya ask me, I'm not too familiar with his work either. I just know that he starred in the film "The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus" alongside Christopher Plummer, Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, Jude Law and the late Heath Ledger. Upon first glance, I do feel that Logan Lerman (the actor who was heavily rumoured to play Spidey months ago) was a better choice for a young Peter Parker. I don't know....maybe we ought to give this Garfield dude a chance.
What do you think?
