AMC The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 3 afterthoughts

Episode 3 of Season 10 of AMC's The Walking Dead Tv series, aptly titled 'Ghosts' is metaphorically referring to the stuff that still haunts two of the main characters this week. The main focus of this week's episode is seemingly hovering around Carol and Aaron but like so many other 'Dead enthusiast I was so looking forward to seeing Negan being on the road with Aaron. And yes, I think the title 'Ghosts' might be referring to Negan's journey towards redemption too.

As the survivors encroached too close to the borders set by the Whisperers (more like 'already breached' last week) the leaders aka Michonne, Daryl, Carol and the lot were forced to negotiate with Alpha and this was when things got really interesting. Alpha was that close to getting her face blown off by Carol's pistol and no one can really blame her for that, even Alpha herself. On the other hand, I was pretty irritated to see Michone being all scaredy cat over Alpha and the rest of the accompanying Whisperers when they have Negan on their side. The dude will be more than happy to bash anyone's brains for free.

In this episode we also saw the negative effects of having little sleep or a total lack thereof. At one point I wasn't even sure what we're seeing on screen is true or otherwise because Carol's point of view was totally compromised due to her junkie habit. To be honest, I was actually expecting her to see her late daughter Sophia in one of her 'trips' but that didn't happen either.

Funny how last week's episode showed us how Alpha was being all weak in the knees and going down memory lane before she was snapped out by Beta. This week is Carol's turn and it took Daryl's persuasion to finally convinced her to get some shut-eye to avoid more unwanted hallucinations. That conversation she THOUGHT she had with Daryl was just brilliant writing by the writers of the series.

I like it how Negan finally gets to go out in the open with Aaron in this episode. Anyway, just to get it out of my system, does anybody notice that Aaron actually looks more and more like 'comic Rick' these days? Metal arm, beard and all? Coming back to their male bonding session, it's great to see that Negan is inevitably slowly turning to that individual desperately seeking for redemption for the bad things he's done in the past.

"I had to do what I had to do at the time...", is probably one of the best dialogues we've ever heard in the series in recent years. Aaron seems to be rather flabbergasted by this as he consistently tried to pin the guilt of losing Eric onto Negan. It's ironic that Aaron couldn't handle his past ghost and Negan is turned out to be the cool cat who seems to be taking things slowly but surely as he makes his way to Redemption Town. Not even Aaron's taunt could shake the man (was pretty close though!).

Later we see Negan playing out his good guy card and saved a semi-blind Aaron from being dinner to several walkers. I'd like to think that Negan has finally accepted his fate and he's truly a changed man. I for one would not have liked it if AMC translates the comic story line straight onto the screen but Negan fighting for the good guys is one I'd truly like to see.

We're getting there for sure.
