Cobra Kai Season 4 afterthoughts

Done with Season 4 of Cobra Kai. Once again the series is full of references and music throwback to the 80s and the occasional Johnny's ignorance towards modern technology.

As expected, the Johnny-Daniel alliance once again triumphed over their long-standing feud. Great to see the kids from both Eagle Fang and Miyagi-Do dojo each picking up skills from both of their sensei. That Mr. Miyagi flashback from Karate Kid III about adapting your own style of karate fits in perfectly into the story arc and allowed Daniel to let go of his foolish beliefs that one should only practice one style of karate. Johnny in the end, also embraced Daniel's style of teaching and acknowledged that an amalgamation of both style was probably the best to take on Silver's and Kreese' Cobra Kai.

In the real world, both Ralph Macchio and William Zabka had in fact reunited at Pat Morita's funeral in 2006, years after the original Karate Kid movies ended. They ended up being the best of pals and had been planning to do a comeback for the franchise since then.

Back to the series, Sam has become more annoying by the day and Anthony is slowly but surely going to pick up karate at some point, especially after that brief reminiscing about Mr. Miyagi holding him when he was a baby. If you ask me, Season 5 is probably going to include Anthony's journey into the world of karate as he takes his place besides his sister to spearhead Miyagi-Do with their dad. Speaking of dads, Johnny finally had his moment with Robby, right after Miguel and him shared a dad-son bonding session. Will this play into his dilemma in Season 5? Will Robby get jealous again of his dad's non-attentive behaviours? Time will tell. That season ending threw everything open and so much possibilities on how it's gonna go down next season.

Yes, baddies need to go to fancy posh restaurants to eat too

Speaking of the season ending, we finally get to see the bigger evil that is Terry Silver backstabbing John Kreese at the very end of episode 10. To tell you the truth we should have seen it coming since episode 1, I was never a fan of his inner fights with himself. It signaled a very troubled man who may spring surprises just when you thought that Kreese was the ultimate evil already in the Cobra Kai series. And that twisted scheme by Silver to pay off the umpire? Slick move, Silver.

Daniel is seen at Mr Miyagi's grave trying to reason with his former mentor (or rather himself) that he need not adhere to the oath taken between him/Johnny and Silver/Kreese to close down his dojo after Cobra Kai's victory in the All Valley Karate Tourney. I really thought that Daniel was in fact all the time talking to Chozen who was standing off camera. Chozen was a fan favorite after his Season 3 appearances and he is technically the only link left to Mr Miyagi. A no brainer move by Daniel to ally himself with the dude to prepare himself for what's coming next against Cobra Kai.

My opinion is that we're probably gonna see some familiar faces in Season 5. As we've already ran out of Karate Kid veterans after almost every body from the first two films already made their appearances, we could still very well see the return of the Bad Boy of Karate, Mike Barnes from Karate Kid III, as we heard Terry Silver wanting to call in 'a friend or two' to assist him in his domination of the Valley karate scene.

Yeah, this guy right here, Mike Barnes from Karate Kid III, who apparently didn't change much in physical appearances since that 1989 movie.

Is it just me or the Cobra Kai series is starting to be more interesting than the original movies?
