We really should listen to Willem Dafoe

I don't know if Willem Dafoe is still fired up from playing the Green Goblin in Spiderman: No Way Home or if he is just really in the mood to play another mad man in a movie. He has an idea to play a Joker imposter or an imitation Joker to go alongside Joaquin Phoenix's Clown Prince of Crime. Dafoe's basically signaling any right-minded director to come and sign him up for this epic Joker movie.

Dafoe's vision may also be interpreted as a plot for some sort of a multiverse or 'Infinite Earths' as you DC fans might call it. Some genius director, preferably a DC/Joker fanboy (like Zack Snyder was to the Watchmen movie) might rope in Dafoe's idea and create a completely different premise to it. One might say that Marvel Studio's foray into the multiverse is a first in the cinematic sphere but DC did it first in the comic pages when The Multiversity and The Monitor toyed with the concept of 'Twin Universes' back in the 60s.

In another sense, in the comics, some villain had posed as The Joker (re: The Return of the Joker) so Dafoe's idea might hold water in terms of consistency to the DC comic pages.

It doesn't matter who did the alternate universes or the imposter story arc first. We fans enjoy it and are ever grateful that stuff from the comic pages are being translated onto the big screen. So go on and let Dafoe have his fun, twin universe or otherwise.
