The new Obi-Wan Kenobi teaser trailer just dropped and all I can say is that the Grand Inquisitor might have had a little too much of his time eating lunch at McDonald's. That made me laugh almost instantly because that has not been translated well onto the big screen. Oh well, you can't expect everything to go well now, can we?
But wait, there were a lot of other things that made my day too in the teaser trailer. How about a young Luke Skywalker playing over at the Lars homestead (his motion of pushing forward the controls of a podracer)? Or how about the Jedi hunters all riled up to find the remaining Jedi (or possibly Kenobi alone) on Tatooine? Also, hearing tracks from The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith takes me back to the good ol' George Lucas days.
All that goodness and we've not even seen any hint of Darth Vader. I can't wait for their showdown because it will shed a completely new light on that conversation they had on the Death Star in A New Hope. Seems that Ben and Ani will confront each other again (and agan?) after Mustafar so that'll probably explain how in time both tend to slow down with their lightsaber skills. Obi-Wan does look like someone who has lost all hope and usually that tends to put some mileage on someone's face.
Obi-Wan Kenobi will be available for us on Disney+ end of May this year.
