Space Force Season 2....and Kokomo!

Finally caught up with Season 2 of Space Force yesterday and it was everything I hoped for which was basically it being funny as heck. Although Season 1 was more world building to say the least with more themes explored and such, Season 2 mostly dealt with General Naird's quest to justify his beloved Space Force division from being shut down by the POTUS. Nevertheless I had a good laugh from the show as any good comedy should have given you.

Funny that deep inside me, I've always viewed Space Force as more of an extension of The Office with Steve Carell's character, Michael Scott making that leap into the military and somehow ended up with the most ridiculed defense division in the US. Disagree with me if you will, but Steve Carell's acting draws parallels between Michael Scott and General Mark Naird.

Tim Meadows made appearances as the Secretary of Defense. If you don't know who this guy is, he's the guy in Adam Sandler's Happy Madison's movies. I remember him most as Bumpty's dad in both of the Grown Up movies. There were other notable cameos like Jon Lovitz as Tony's dad, Terry Crews as one of the General at Pentagon and Patton Oswalt as the Mars-bound astronaut whose mission has already been cancelled since without his knowledge. All great cameos!

Dr Chan has a more prominent role in Season 2 and I love how the character interacts with John Malkovich's Dr Mallory. Malkovich is another star of Season 2 in my books.

You know you're getting an outstanding ending to a season when it closes with a great sequence of the main characters singing along awkwardly to Kokomo from the Beach Boys. Yup, this video above will give you just that, but just the first part of it. You may skip the rest of the video if you're not keen to see the trailer for Season 2, which I think is rather irrelevant at this point.

Season 3 isn't confirmed yet by Netflix but that doesn't mean that Space Force is cancelled. Netflix usually waits at least a month up to half a year before announcing the renewal or cancellation of a show.. In fact, Season 1 was more than 6 months from its original air date before Netflix announced that Space Force was going to get a Season 2. So fingers crossed!
