That Joker deleted scene

Picture this, an amalgamation of Heath Ledger's Joker and the video game Jokers. That's how I perceive Barry Keoghan's version of The Joker from the recently released clip from The Batman movie above. A whole 5 minutes of madness as it should be.

I like this Hannibal Lecter-esque Joker. Psycho as he should be, scarred by the boiling acids of the Acme Factory and not some depressed soul trying to express his innermost pent up feelings. Joaquin Phoenix who you ask? He was excellent in his role but he wasn't a good fit with any of the Batmen. So yeah.

Coming back to Barry Keoghan's Joker, I like the whole scarring effect on his face. He's a Year Two Joker parallel to Battinson's Dark Knight character so it's understandable he sounds like a newbie but already scary nonetheless. I only knew Keoghan from Dunkirk and later The Eternals but this takes his acting chops to a whole level. Now I want to watch the sequel to Reeves' Batman movie badly. The Joker is no doubt the most recognizable Bat-villain and he should be the nastiest of them all. Looks like Keoghan didn't disappoint in his 5 minutes of screen time. Now imagine a whole movie with this intelligent criminal mastermind going against the Batman.

Totally understand why this scene was taken out from the movie. It would've diverted so many attention when the director really wanted us to concentrate on the story arc of Selena Kyle, The Penguin and Carmine Falcone. That jail cell scene left us wanting more because we had a glimpse of how crazy The Joker will be in this universe. This 5 minute deleted scene just cemented our expectations. Can't believe how Nolan's trilogy, no matter how good it was for its time, will be topped by this uber realistic vision by Matt Reeves.
