I'm not even sure if this is the final trailer or just another one of Ryan Reynold's long list of teasers leading up to the July release of the movie. Lotsa stuff going on in this trailer for sure. There are a bunch of youtubers who dissected the trailer and all of the easter eggs therein so you might wanna check those peeps out if that's your cup of tea.
Tons of throwback and fan service especially to comic readers of yore. My favorite has got to be the huge Giant Man/Scott Lang skull which takes us back to the territory of Mark Millar's Old Man Logan (even though in that one the deceased was Hank Pym). As morbid as it can further sound, this giant skull is now being used by one Cassandra Nova, twin to Professor Charles Xavier. Those who wonder who Cass Nova is and how she came to be might be interested to know that according to Shi'ar lore, she was a 'twin' who existed in the astral plane way back when Charles Xavier himself was in his mother's womb, an anti-self was what they call her. Kudos to these Marvel writers who continuously confuse us on another level.
Being Deadpool, there is of course a homage to Rob Liefeld in the movie and there weren't subtle nor shy to proudly display his name in the trailer. How about that 'Copper Head' reference behind Wolverine? Surely at some point in the MCU the Serpent Society will make an appearance.
There are of course other bits and pieces of throwbacks and homages to keep you company until we get to see the actual movie in less than months from now. As for me, I'm just glad we'd get to see Hugh Jackman back in action and ultimately this will mean an unmistakable introduction of X-Men into the MCU, be it from another Multiverse or otherwise.
July 26 can't come fast enough! LFG!
