Wonder Woman's new look....

By now most fanboys will probably be aware that Wonder Woman has been given a major makeover by them DC bosses. I hear ya'....most are crying foul over the change in Diana's image. I mean, why fix something that isn't broken?

I personally feel that by giving her a pair of pants implies that DC is trying to impose sort of a Western symbol of formalized male authority. Hence, it won't be too extreme to declare this huge makeover an implied passing of gender equity. It's gonna take some time for us to adjust to this new image. I'm never gonna swap my classic red-blue Wonder Woman in my JLA action-figure lineup with this new one....THAT'S for sure!

As delicately put by a writer in today's edition of the Malaysian NST newspaper:
So you see, this signals the last time we're gonna see Diana in her traditional oh-so-familiar red-blue suit in any future medium. Fanboys mourning all over the world as we speak.......
"Because what they did was more than just a change of costume, it was a change of philosophy.Gone is the red, white and blue, possibly in some attempt at trying to make her a more global hero. It is misguided at best. Because Wonder Woman is in every sense an American hero, created by American ideals, governed by American principles. A change in fashion will do little to assuage that.
Gone is the flamboyant fantasy. Gone is the rather short, flighty, flirty star-spangled skirt, that summer mini, teasingly bordering on indecency while remaining curiously chaste and Sunday-school-sweet.

In its place, some superficial reality: painted-on black pants, a puffy black jacket with sleeves rolled up, and a tight, low-cut top."

Ugh, she looks like Donna Troy's mom in that pic. Why does DC bother? EVERYTIME they try to change the costumes to make them more 'hip', it always backfires and the hero ends up changing back a year later. I'm sorry but Superman wears a cape, Batman doesn't have claws, and Wonder Woman wears a Stars & Stripes thong. End of story.
