Excerpts from the internet:
"Warner Bros. Animation (WBA) has begun production on “ThunderCats,” an all-new animated series for Cartoon Network, based upon the iconic 1980s action classic. “ThunderCats” is the newest series from WBA, joining “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” which was recently renewed for a third season, and the following forthcoming programs: “The Looney Tunes Show,” “MAD,” “Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated” and “Young Justice.” The announcement was made today by Sam Register, Executive Vice President, Creative Affairs, Warner Bros. Animation.

The new “ThunderCats” will appeal to viewers who have loved the characters all their lives as well as young newcomers to the franchise. A sweeping tale combining swords and science and boasting ferocious battles with the highest of stakes, the grand origin story of Prince Lion-O’s ascension to the throne – and of those who would thwart his destiny at any cost – takes on epic dimensions in this sharp new telling. As the forces of good and evil battle each other in the quest for the fabled Stones of Power, Lion-O and his champions learn valuable lessons of loyalty, honor and mortality in every episode. “ThunderCats” is executive produced by Sam Register (“Teen Titans,” “Ben 10,” “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”). Michael Jelenic (“Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” “Wonder Woman”) and Ethan Spaulding (“Avatar: The Last Airbender”) are the producers."
Toyark meanwhile, has the following news on Icon Heroes producing static action figures....or 'staction' figures of them Thundercats:

"Under the terms of the new agreement, Icon Heroes will manufacture 6-inch and under scale statues, vehicle replicas, environments and dioramas all inspired by Thundercats. The statues will be branded as “Staction Figures” (Static Action Figures) and will be non-articulated standing atop a highly detailed environment base. Each Staction Figure is scaled such that they can be displayed individually or alongside other 6-inch action figures and statues. The first Staction Figures scheduled for release are Lion-O, Jackal Man, and Jaga. Other products to be released include the Thunderclaw, Cat’s Lair, and many more."
And whadya know.....recently over their official page net, we were presented a glimpse of Lion-O himself:

What do you think? I'm not too crazy about the paint-work....THAT'S for sure! Besides, I'm not too keen on non-articulated action figures, if we're able to call 'em that!

On the other hand, Warner Bros. has announced today that they have signed a partnership deal with.......

.....as the main global licensee to produce Thundercats figures based on both the new animation series as well as from the classic 80s series. Bummer. No disrespect whatsoever, but consider this.....this is the company that gave us such 'wonderful' and 'not-so-collector-oriented' toys such as....

Power rangers (blerghhh!) and....

....Kamen Riders (hmmmmmmmph!).......

I'm not exactly a big fan of both action figures shown above. We can only pray for the best that these upcoming Bandai Thundercats figures won't look like two-dollar shop quality products! Please dear God, no!....

Till then....

The Ben Ten toys give us hope, and Power Rangers do have lots of articulation, which old thundercats had not so much. Maybe it will work.
