Okay, so I know that many of you collectors have already picked up this excellent Hot Toys figure about a month ago or so. I only got mine a week ago. Naturally I was excited to finally get one of the most anticipated 1/6th action figure ever in the history of action-figure collecting! Here are a few pictures as I opened the packaging for the first time....(actual review of the figure might not come so soon though....LOL!).
What a nice deviation from the normal rectangular Hot Toys boxes. This action figure is housed in a reversed triangular-shaped box, in the shape of the famous Superman logo. The blue-coloured support boxes below it are detachable. Nice idea by HT.
Back of the packaging shows some copyright clauses...bla...bla...bla....Warner Bros....DC Comics...etc.
The inside of the cover box shows the list of team member from HT responsible for bringing this action figure to life.
Here's a better view.....
There is a cardboard layer the moment you lift the cover open. It says 'In memory of Christopher Reeve"......a fitting tribute to the most definitive on-screen Superman ever! I think most of you already know that parts of the proceeds from buying this 1/6th collectible figure will go to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation....for spinal cord injuries and paralysis research purposes.
Here's how the figure layout looks like when you pop the cover open for the first time.
Underneath the figure tray (aka the 1st layer of plastic tray that holds Superman) is the tray for the ice-base complete with the fortress of solitude's ice 'sculptures'. Also comes with a standard HT figure stand and of course.....a flight stand!
Waste of space by HT? You tell me. I guess the guess at HT had to make space to include the fortress of solitude base and accessories.
It's really astonishing how some collectors snap photos of this figure and somehow made it looked like a "Mego" figure....real insult to the team at HT.
Spot-on likeness of the late Christopher Reeve! Real mad headsculpt this is from HT! Despite all the pictures you may find on the 'net, it still does not do the figure justice. You gotta hold and see this insane figure up-close for yourselves!
Hmmm.....now if I can only find the time to actually fiddle with the action figure... =p Till next time!
