Here's some shot of the 3.75" Ultra Poseable Spider-Man and the Reptile Blast Lizard figures from Hasbro from the Amazing Spider-Man movie series figure line. While I'm not exactly sure how well did the movie go for those hardcore or casual Spidey fans out there, I can tell you that it was a shade darker than the Tobey Trilogy....that's fer sure! The action figure line gave us a bunch of nonsensical 'action-feature' figures which serves no purpose to the adult collectors, but these two were the most 'decent' ones you'd find among them all.
Right, let us start with Spidey himself. First glance, one would immediately say 'Aww man.....not another Spidey figure?' Now just hold your horses for a minute and I'll show you why you'd need this one for your collection. Besides, he's sporting the all-new Andrew Garfield get-up so ain't that a good enough reason to get this figure anyway?
Now here's when it stars getting more fun. As the name suggests, this Spidey here is 'ultra-poseable' which means you're able to get him into many stances and poses thinkable. As for me I really dig that 'rocker ankle'. Flexible ankles would allow me to pose him in many arachnid poses....and that's important for any Spiderman figures!
This figure is actually quite detailed to say the least. Quite impressive for a 3.75" action-figure. Paint apps are good and less sloppier than what we normally see on such small-scaled action figures.
One can clearly see the 'silver' sole at the bottom of Spidey's boots......staying faithful to the on-screen appearance. this new spider suit design is a hit and miss among fans....some like it, some says it's kinda 'ok' (like yours truly) and some...well, totally dissed it. Whatever your preference is....just enjoy it as it is.....(or you can always pop out your Sam Raimi DVDs and indulge yourself with Tobey's acting skills and pretend that Andrew Garfield never existed.....lol).
Ahh....that classic Spidey hanging upside down pose.....just can't resist myself from posing him as such!
Climb that wall Spidey!!!!
Next up we have The Lizard for your viewing pleasure. He's menacing enough for anyone to pick him up off the shelves. I mean, your collection wouldn't be complete without getting Dr. Connor's alter ego now would ya?
Well, if I could just single out one flaw form this figure it'd definitely be his lack of waist articulations. Had he been given just that, he'd be perfect. What a shame....such a fine action figure.....but hampered by the lack of waist actions!
The showdown! THWIPPP!!!
"Hey lookit' me.....I'm Ultra Poseable!!!"......THWACKK!!!
"Oooofff"
"Here, have some of my boots!"
"WHIP!!!!"
Remember the part where The Lizard's tail fell off? That was downright disgusting!
VERDICT: If you love the new movie, then these two is a must have! If you're staying true on the Raimi/McGuire boat, then there's absolutely no harm in getting these two to grace your figure shelves too! After all, it's always nice to see your favourite characters getting the reboot treatment.....gives them a sense of 're-newed' interest of some sort. Make mine Marvel!!!
