A 1981 DeLorean DMC-12! Great Scott....did I just buy a 'Hot Wheels'!!!

Maybe I had this coming, or maybe I didn't. But after re-watching the Back To The Future Trilogy (again) TWICE over the weekend, suddenly the 'usually-non-appealing' Hot Wheels section became so appealing because I remembered they came out with the 'normal' version of the famed DeLorean car used for time travelling throughout the films! For the record, I don't collect Hot Wheels.....more like NEVER. Well, perhaps I did have a few when I was small but I wasn't really into them miniature cars when I was a kid (too busy bashing up action-figures I guess....heheh). And then, while walking through a departmental store this afternoon, my wife found this.......

Okay, I'm not gonna bore ya', but the rule of thumb is I'm assuming almost everybody would've been so darn familiar with the 'Future trilogy films already. Am I right? As far as the DeLorean goes, an excerpt from wiki has the following:

"The DeLorean DMC-12 is a sports car that was originally manufactured in Northern Ireland by John DeLorean's DeLorean Motor Company for the American market in 1981–1982. It is most commonly known simply as the DeLorean, as it was the only model ever produced by the company. The DMC-12 featured gull-wing doors with a fiberglass "underbody", to which non-structural brushed stainless steel panels were affixed. A modified version of the car became iconic for its appearance as a time machine in the Back to the Future film franchise."
More here if you're interested to go into the details.

Well of course this version looks different than the one which appeared on the films, that one's modified with a bunch of wires, thingamajigies, a certain "Mr Fusion" and all sorts of essential time machine devices. Well, the truth is we got this for my 2-year old son after he instantenously became a fan of the Back To The Future movies......too young to get him a skateboard/hoverboard so I thought it'd be nice to get him a piece from the films. Well, not exactly THE modified version used by Marty and Doc Brown, but this'll do!

This DeLorean is made in Malaysia!

Flux capacitor - ready!!!....1.21 gigawatts - check!!!.....Now give us that 88 MPH!!!

Can't wait for the 'Future blu-ray discs!

Never collected Hot Wheels or Matchbox cars either, Rebel. More of a figures guy too.
Every once in a while there's a die cast vehicle from a movie or comic that catches my eye, but there's always something in the next toy ailse over that I end up spending my money on

Awesome! It's your reward for watching with and educating the wife in the 'Future Trilogy, eh? ;P

Knowing my luck, my wife would've found it for me too!
