The most powerful man in the universe....(YET he still needs armour)!!!

Battle-Armor He-Man: Most Powerful Man in the Universe

Hey everybody. I'm not feeling too quirky enough to open up the rest of my recent acquisitions and let alone to shoot photos or review them (*lazy-mode*). So what I'm gonna do here is to review one of my previous plastic acquisitions (in fact I have heaps of 'em just lying around waiting to be reviewed), the excellent MOTU Classics' Battle-Armor He-Man. I just can't believe that it took me SO long to finally get him. This figure is definitely one of THE most nostalgic figure in my books because I had such an attachment to the original figure way back in the 80s, yet it took many months of hesitations till I finally caved in to get him!

Well, the packaging's pretty much the same since the line was first launched way back in '08 so there's really no need for me to go into too much detail on it. Works well for the MOC collectors but if you're a true believer that every action-figure needs to be released from their plastic cell, then I guess (whatever's left of) the packaging will be pretty much useful by the time you get to the figure!

Battle-Armor He-Man: Most Powerful Man in the Universe

The bio at the back explains how He-Man discovers more secrets and abilities which could be unlocked from his power sword. What baffles me the most is how He-Man, THE most powerful man in the universe ever needs a 'battle-armor' to protect himself from the threat of evil!

As soon as I got him out of the box, I immediately "stripped" him to see how he looked like underneath that armor. He's a tad bit taller i.e. his neck is a wee-bit longer than the normal ver. He-Man. This is understandable since the top of his battle-armor has to go under his neck. It wouldn't work with the normal ver. He-Man (trust me I've tried...lol!). Apart form the obvious armor, He-Man comes with his Battle-Axe and 3 different chest plates. I'll go into those details further down this review.

Remember back in the 80s when the original Battle-armor He-Man came with that 'rotating mechanism' in his chest? That simply meant that kids were able to interchange between the chest plates simply by rotating them up or down.

These chest plates are supposed to simulate He-Man's armor conditions if he were to receive heavy blows to to his chest. These come in three different 'conditions'.....a clean version, an intermediate-damaged version and a heavily-damaged version.

Honestly, I didn't know what got into me when I 'rejected' this figure when it was released many moons ago. It took some convincing from a dear MOTU enthusiast when I finally crumbled and succumbed to that nostalgia of yesteryear. Glad I got him in the end! What more when I read that this particular He-Man variant is still highly sought after in some parts of the collecting world.

I totally dig the armor (notwithstanding all the sick jokes he receives!) and he looks awesome on Battle-Cat (which unfortunately I did not take the trouble to pose him on). In fact, some collectors prefer this version of He-Man rather than the harness version. A matter of preference really....but I still prefer the 'Filmation' look aka harnessed He-Man mounting my Battle-Cat.

This figure looks superb even from the back! Just look at all the creases on the armor. Stunning details!

Battle-Armor He-Man: Most Powerful Man in the Universe

The only criticism often received by collectors is that this figure only comes with the Battle-Axe....and his Power Sword is not included. Not a problem at all since most of us collectors (I assume!) would already have the normal harnessed He-Man.

Conclusion: Get this figure already! Even more so if you still haven't got any He-Man yet in your MOTU Classics collection (unthinkable really!). The nostalgic value alone makes having this figure worthwhile PLUS he'll look cool enough to outshine the rest of your MOTU Classics figures on your shelves. 'Nuff said!
