Late Night with the Devil

Truthfully the horrific title alone was enough to attract me to watch this from the get-go. Not gonna lie, the 70s has always been one interesting period for me in terms of pop culture and other life defining moments. Late Night with the Devil is touted to be a 'found footage' genre and we get to see the horrors of the fateful night where host Jack Delroy, played by the impressive David Dastmachian, tries to revive his waning career as a talk show host by inviting a supposedly possessed girl with her adopted guardian on the show. Most will remember Dastmachian for playing side characters in The Dark Knight, Ant-Man movies, Suicide Squad etc. but here he is the leading man. I dig this movie for being aesthetically correct for the time period and there were many cultural references to the decade mentioned throughout the movie.

I'm not going to go all out to provide a wholesome review of the movie here but I rather take this space and time to point out that David Dastmachian has truly displayed his sublime acting skills in this movie. I love the plot and the retro feel of the movie. The twist at the very end of the movie makes you think twice about betraying the ones that you love and care about because apparently they can still come back and kick you in the ass from beyond. Talking about horror/scare factor, there ain't much from the movie because it doesn't really focus on those elements, even though it has been marketed as a horror-comedy genre. If you're into the M. Night Shyamalan-Rod Serling- Alfred Hitchcock genre then this movie is a must watch for you.

Seriously, is there anything that this man cannot do? I can totally imagine David Dastmachian going on playing other lead roles after this for sure. This movie, if not being THE breakout role for Dastmachian, is definitely a great stepping stone for the man to play other roles next. Watch Late Night with the Devil now!
