Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster

Turns out that the new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poster has stirred quite a controversy among fans. Fans can literally say what they want these days with the hope of changing the outcome of whatever that was bugging them in the first place. Wishful thinking.

Firstly, they're saying that Palpatine looks kinda cartoony instead of the actual image of Ian McDarmid in make-up. I agree on this one, something's really off with his eyes. Them haters are not wrong though because it has since been discovered that a Hot Toys action figure was actually used to create the image in the poster. That does not make things better in my opinion. Instead of using an image of Palpatine from the Clone Wars or Rebels animated series, they went for a picture of an action figure's head. No brownie points for you Disney!

Secondly, the simplicity of the poster makes some fans go all crazy saying that some amateur graphic artist did the whole thing and not befitting a Star Wars epic poster quality. Well, I don't have much qualms on the graphics on this one. Sometimes more is less and vice versa. Kylo does have the higher ground in this one and it teases that an epic battle between the two is coming our way in Episode 9.

But then I stumbled across this edited image off the 'net (bless you, whoever did this!) and I gotta be honest, it does look better in so many ways. Made me laugh for a good minute or so!

And then I remembered that George Lucas originally mentioned that Jar Jar Binks was supposed to play a bigger role in the rise of the Sith at the end of the prequel trilogy but that storyline got scrapped somewhere along the way.

Imagine if George went down THAT alley and made Jar Jar the bad guy as he intended to.....
