Thunder....Thunder....Thundercats.....NO!!!!!

I've mentioned about the all-new Thundercats animated cartoon series some time back, and I've also mentioned about how we were denied to having Mattel aka Matty collector to produce the action figures for us. Why Matty why?!! Why did ya' have to let the license slip to Bandai? I always believed we should give Bandai a chance and see what they could muster at their end. Who knows, Bandai might spring a surprise! And a surpise they gave when the first preview pictures came out. Everybody now...Thunder....Thunder...Thundercats....NOOOO!!!!!! Why oh why they had to be this ugly?

Seems that them action figures now come in 3 scales: 4", 6" and 8"...yes, 8-inchers to stay true to the 80s vers of our beloved feline action figures. Take a look at these preview pictures of Cheetara and Lion-O. While these are 4-inchers representation of what the characters are generally gonna look like from the upcoming 2011 Animated series, rest assured that the 6-inchers are gonna look the same. If ya' ask me.....TOTAL PASS dude!!! Though that Thundertank looks pretty tempting....LOL.

However, there is a glimmer of hope from the 8-inch line aka the Classic line. I do hope Bandai follows the excellent footsteps of Matte Collector and give collectors an updated version of the 80s characters. We get ONE sneak preview picture of Lion-O and Tygra....I  gotta say they look pretty decent comparatively with them fugly 4" versions. *Sigh*...I still do harbour some hopes that Mattel will someday (eventually) pick up the Thundercats license so we'd get some top-notch 6" action figures ala MOTU Classics!

Lion O & Tygra (BANDAI)

Share some thoughts on these Bandai action figures....I love to hear from 'ya!

Seriously? I find the Bandai figure...err...awkward....their poses unnatural...

Those four inchers look horrid, but the 6 inches do look promising. I'm kind of happy that Mattel didn't get the license, because if they did we'd basically be buying two variants for the whole line (standard muscular male body-type A, big-boobed, small-waisted female body B). Let's hope Bandai can do a better job and prove that they deserve the license!

I completely agree that the 4" line looks pretty poor. Granted, it's a new design for a new animated series and all, but it just ain't that cool. Classics for me for sure...if I can convince myself to stomach 8 inchers...Lol

I'd have to agree with Stephen on this. I'm kinda glad Mattel didn't win the license to produce Thundercats cos then I'll be paying like Rm150 a figure and that's a bit too steep for my liking.

As for the New Anime Line figures, I think I'll pass. I'll go for the Classic Line. Nostalgia :)

I still prefer the old version action figures. Hope whoever got the licence reissue the old one too as I would like to collect them :)

Boyarque>>> Yup, agree with ya bro....they look a bit disproportioned.

Stephen>>> Here's to us hoping...and wishing Bandai can live up to our expectations!

SirDragonBane>>> I have the same feeling too bro...*gulp* 8-inchers?? How are those gonna match the rest of our 'standard' 4-inchers and 6-inchers?!

Armand>>> Both you and Stephen are right...we wouldn't want to pay exorbitant prices for them 'Cats ala MOTU Classics! Somehow rather it was a blessing Matty missed the license! Let's just hope the Classic 'Cats measure up to par with them MOTUCS!

Des>>> I don't think the old ones are gonna be re-issued anytime soon bro....we're gonna have to make do with the Bandai 'Classics' line for now. I think you'd be pretty happy with them too....it's the closest we can get right now to the toys we love in the 80s! =)

The classic line looks best, but they screwed up Lion-O's face. Tygra may be perfect, but if the lead character is botched then I'm not interested.
