Dream TOMICA from Takara Tomy

I don't normally collect miniature vehicles. My better half is the expert in that department. Her collection spans from your everyday Hot Wheels and the movie-specific vehicles in various scales from other toy companies. But when I heard Takara Tomy was to produce the 'Dream TOMICA' series of vehicle and that TWO Batmobiles were planned for the series, I knew I had to take a peek and was rather surprised to find that two Transformers vehicles were also in the series. These vehicles however, costs double the price of a normal TOMICA vehicle. Typically the 'normal' vehicles will cost ya about USD3.30 over here in Malaysia but any one of the 'Dream vehicles is priced about USD6+ for us in this part of the world. A bit pricey if you ask me but then again, the Retro Hot Wheels series were priced at about the same price point too. So let's take a look at these vehicles and see if they're up to the mark and worth paying >USD5 for.

You've all seen the packaging from the collage above. Now take a look at the top part of each box depicting the movie franchise from whence each vehicles come from.

Tomica #146: 1989 Batmobile

Tomica #147: Optimus Prime

Ok, with the packaging aside, let's take a look into every each of them vehicles now, shall we?

#142 is the Transformers movie Bumblebee 2008 Camaro car. For the record, these TOMICA vehicles are a tad bit smaller than the Hot Wheels vehicles. Not really noticeable but some of the 'scale sensitive' collectors might find this annoying when they try to pair these TOMICA together with the rest of their Hot Wheels collection.

Of course, these Transformers vehicles do not have 'alternate' modes. It would've been really insane if they could really transform at this scale ain't it?!

#146 is the 1989 'Michael Keaton' Batmobile. This was always on top of my want list among these four. The '89 Batman movie has and will always be my favourite among all of the Bat movies (sorry Christian Bale!) so finding this Batmobile was a prerogative for me. Glad I found one before them nasty scal-pors did!

Its sleek and aerodynamic design cemented its position among the BEST and cool-looking Batman vehicles of all time.

#147 is the Transformers movie Optimus Prime in his truck cab mode. Honestly, I wasn't really keen in hunting this down but since I've already tracked the 'Bee down I figured what the heck...

Tomica #147: Optimus Prime

I'm not exactly a fan of the 'Bayformers movies but here's hoping that TF:4 would be a better outing (sadly Michael Bay is STILL helming the movie....). Let's give Bay a chance and see if he has indeed listened to the fans for his fourth instalment.

Last but not least, #148 is the Christian Bale 'The Dark Knight' Tumbler Batmobile. This one proved to be the hardest to find in the wild. I've only seen this TWICE on retail shelves as opposed to the previous aforementioned vehicles.

The detailing is pretty good on the Tumbler. No surprise why this one is the most popular among the four as The Dark Knight Rises is still fresh in many of our minds.

Overall, the detailing and the paint of all of these vehicles are top notch. They are indeed worth the price they are slapped with. I recommend you to pick them up if you see them coz the after market prices are crazy, especially for both Batmobiles.

That's all I have to say about that. Over and out.
