LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.....

LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Took a stroll at a nearby flea market with my son and better half last weekend. Didn't plan to get anything as I was there to meet a friend on some business matter (so to speak). But we couldn't resist from taking a peek at one of the stalls selling toys and other bootleg pop culture related stuff. My son immediately spotted these among the sea of other LEGO figurines. Well, actually they go by the sets and there were a good 10 sets or so of these four 'Turtle brothers on sale (should've grabbed Splinter too! Darn!). They were quite a steal at USD6 (equivalent) per set. That's quite reasonable as one Minifig could already cost you anywhere between USD3.5 - USD4....so four (4) LEGO figurines at about USD1.5 each is a no-brainer deal! We've always wanted to get these for our son but my wife and I were constantly taken aback by the asking price for one of them TMNT LEGO set. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure whether these aren't bootleg/official LEGO figurines or otherwise. They look good and they're durable enough in our hands....so I didn't give much thought on those issues anyway.

LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Each of these 'Turtles came with their respective signature weapons, skateboards and a full set of pizza. No complain there on the accessory department. All these plus the main 'Turtle figure themselves for 6 bucks...crazy.

Each of their weapons fit nice and tight in each of their hands. You might just wanna take extra precautions while handling Leo's katana blades. They look fragile and one will have fear of snapping them off their hilts if excessive force is applied. I have no gripes with the other weapons though.

My wife actually had to go through each and every one of the sets to find the best 'aligned' eyeball positions. I'm guessing that these are indeed original LEGO figurines but they were 'rejected' due to QC issues hence the wonky eyeball positions on some of these Turtles.

I love it that they had given each of them unique facial expressions. Mikey has the most goofiest face as ever. Something tells me that these Turtles were based off the new 'Nickelodeon TMNT show rather than the classic 80s version. How do I know? Well, Donnie has that 'gap-tooth' look from the 'Nick cartoon series.

Here they are on their uniquely colored skateboards.

We only saw Splinter and there were no other characters off the TMNT-verse as yet. We might wanna visit the seller again next week to see if he gets other characters. Totally dying for a Shredder right now!

"Hey guys....we should really wash our hands before we eat these. After all, we do spend much of our time in a SEWER!"

THE REBEL'S VERDICT: Let's face it, under normal circumstances, I would have never bought these if they were still priced at 3 or 4 bucks a pop. But after holding and playing with these TMNT minifigs, I think that they're worth the money even if I didn't get them on discount. This is my first ever LEGO review for The Rebel Page and I'd like to review more of them in future posts. Perhaps a full set review...you know, minifigs that actually come with its vehicles/buildings etc. I'll look into that real soon. In the meantime, I'm happy to have these in my...errr...my son's happy to have these in his collection, so that's probably the best USD6 spent on toys in recent times. I love TMNT toys and having my son going crazy over them LEGO versions of the 'Turtles warms my heart. If you're a 'Turtles fan, then you might wanna track these 4 LEGO figurines down for your shelves. They're an essential part of your TMNT collection for sure. Cowabunga/Booyakasha!!!

Are the turtles different colors? For example, the minifigures of Leonardo and Raphael are darker than Michelangelo and Donatello. I can't really tell from your pictures, but if they're all the same color, there is a high probability that they're knockoffs.
