The Official James Bond car collection #1: BMW Z8 - The World Is Not Enough...

The Official James Bond car collection  #1 BMW Z8 The World is Not Enough
I stumbled upon this random piece of Eaglemoss offering while making my rounds at one of the bookstore in town. I've always knew that apart from the lead figurines (I've bought some of the Eaglemoss DC Superheroes figurines myself) Eaglemoss Ltd. produced iconic vehicles for their magazines/collectible items line. I've wanted to collect the Batman vehicle series but that one costs a bomb so when I saw the #1 issue of the Official James Bond car collection selling for a mere RM9.90 (that's just well over USD3 folks!) I thought it was a no-brainer purchase. This was of course an introductory offer and subsequent issues (plus vehicles) would cost ya RM29.90 (or approx USD 9) but I was curious to see how the vehicles turn out to be. Only time will tell if I do decide to take the plunge and collect the rest of the vehicles in the series. In the meantime, let's check out the first offering from the line, the BMW Z8 from the Pearce Brosnan Bond flick, 'The World Is Not Enough' ("TWINE").

This is how issue #1 looks like. I noticed that Eaglemoss likes to 'pimp' up their first issues (pardon the language).  Notice how the magazine and the catalogue is inserted in an overblown backing card? The Z8 model itself is bubble-carded and is super-glued to the backing card. The whole presentation looks visually interesting.

I'm not really sure if the series have made its appearance in any other countries before but I'm assuming that since this one has a 'MY' url link, this series is exclusive to Malaysia? Would be great if somebody can verify this.

At the back of the huge card back you' get to see a description of the Z8 model and what's coming in the next 4 issues. Like I said before, I still haven't decided if I'm gonna collect the entire series of cars but I'm mighty tempted to get issue #2 since it's based on one of my favourite Roger Moore Bond flick!

To tell you the truth, I don't remember much of the TWINE film. All I remember is Robert Carlyle being the bad guy in the film and that Bond had to kill the female protagonist towards the end of the film.

Forgive me when I say that I only vividly remember the scene in which this diorama is based on. The car is very well built for something that is mass produced. The details are astonishing at this scale.

I love the weapon/gun jutting out on either sides of the vehicle. It perfectly captured how a 'Bond vehicle' is supposed to be, equipped with gadgets and stuff. You know the drill.

In the film, this car got shredded in half. And yes, that is exactly how it got sliced! Gotta love that huge saw thingy.

If this is any indication of how future release are gonna be, then we're in for a treat. The diorama is very detailed and is worth the money you're gonna pay for it.

Errr.....so this is Pearce Brosnan up close? Of course you can't expect much at this scale right?

THE REBEL'S VERDICT: Lemme just sum it up in just one sentence. A no-brainer for you James Bond enthusiast! Nuff 'said.

Hi
This series has completed its rounds in South Africa with a mammoth 134 issues. Some do the models are excellent and some are so-so but if you're a fan of the series it would be snapped up. 3 gifts were also issued to subscribers.
Accompanying magazines are highly informative on both the vehicles role as well as some behind-the-scenes reading on the worlds most famous secret agent!!
Highly recommended for the avid collector!!!
