I can't believe that this is the 3rd basic Star Wars 5-POA set that I've bought for my son in recent times. I've posted about the first two purchases i.e. Boba Fett and Kylo Ren some time back. I never actually hoped to find this out in the open (well my wife stumbled upon a freshly stacked TRU shelf choked full of these new 'deluxe/mission series/whateveryouwannacallit 2-pack' 5-POAs during lunch time) amidst the frenzy scramble for anything 'The Force Awakens'.

Them scalpers are not making life easier too.

Let me start by saying that I'm mightily impressed by the packaging art. Nothing screams pop culture geeky goodness better than handpainted character art in my books! I simply love it. These are packages which I'm not gonna throw out anytime soon.

The Jakku Scavenger whose name is revealed as Teedo is a Tusken Raiders wannabe type of character. He's practically wrapped up inside an Egyptian mummy-like bandage. Scavenger/desert planet/rides a large beast.....hmmm, why does it all sound so familiar. Hahah. Anyway talking about large beasts, Teedo here was seen in still images taken from the upcoming TFA movie riding a 'Luggabeast' aka a weird beast-machine hybrid who seems to be his main choice of transport on Jakku. Come to think of it, now I really want a Luggabeast figure to go with Teedo!

This Unkar's Thug/Jakku Scavenger/BB-8 figure set is destined to be THE set to get amongst the sea of the other deluxe figure sets because this is currently THE only way for you to get a 3.75" scale BB-8. Is Hasbro gonna give us a single- carded BB-8 anytime soon? I have no idea but you won't want to gamble would you? Grab this set if you see it.

No doubt that most people will buy this set for BB-8. My son loves him/her too. As for me I'm just happy to get new characters so getting BB-8 is a bonus really. I already have him in the 6" scale  (though I wish I have the moolah to get that Sphero version too...*screams*).

BB-8 is the new Artoo for the latest Star Wars trilogy although R2-D2 itself is still present in the upcoming movie. This BB-8 figure looks awesome for its size and should go perfectly fine too with your other Star Wars 3.75" figures.

The Unkar's Thug figure is basically a space pirate dude whom I'm guessing will be playing some part in our heroes' story. Maybe this dodgy character from Unkar (not sure if it is actually referring to a clan/person/place at this point of time) will halt or disrupts Rey, Finn or any of the good guys from completing their mission. He looks a bit like the Garindan character from A New Hope or is it just his goggles.

Basically if I have to sum things up, I would say that these figures deserve to be fully articulated ala The Black series because they have such nice sculpts and paint apps. But that's  not gonna happen anytime soon, which is a bummer.
