The Mandalorian trailer

The internet broke today. At least for Star Wars fans, I'm pretty sure of it. Not that epic of a proportion like the time when we first saw old Han & Chewie boarding the Millennium Falcon back in The Force Awakens but it's mighty close.

Disney gave us the first full trailer for The Mandalorian and fans can more or less gauge what to expect from the 8-episode limited series coming our way through the Disney Plus streaming service on Nov 12, 2019.

Let's take a look at it, if you haven't already.....

Disney has said that the series will have movie quality just like what we've seen in all Star Wars movie thus far and we've seen just that in the trailer.

The Mandalorian is set between ROTJ and The Force Awakens hence starting the influx of movies/series that Disney can go into to explain that 30-year gap between the two movies. The Empire has fallen and it is a time when everybody is still celebrating the fall of Emperor Palpatine. It is also a time of chaos with no central government to control the galaxy.

The tale tells of a time when a bounty hunter dons the legendary Mandalorian armor after Jango and Boba Fett in a very wild west setting in that galaxy far, far away.

The series created by Jon Favreau stars Pedro Pascal of Game Of Thrones fame as the main bounty hunter and include a slew of famous cast members such as Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Taika Waititi (yup, THAT Taika Waititi), Werner Herzog, and Bryce Dallas Howard.

I really dig the Original Trilogy throwback with Twi'leks and Ugnaughts making appearances in the series. Let's hope for more familiar OT faces/characters making their rounds. Furthermore, the series has that Rogue One-ish feel, complete with a young Jynn Erso-like character being shielded by her mother as she makes her way to escape from someone/something.

These four moments from the trailer really caught my attention. To me they really stood up from the rest of the stuff shown during the 2-minute trailer.

1) See those Stormtrooper helmets all dumped on that sandy planet and some were on spikes? The remaining Imperial Stormtroopers have all either deserted their posts or to be more sadistic, have all been killed to wipe out all traces of Palpatine's tyranny.

2) Who's that frozen in carbonite? First glance may tell you that this might a Zabrak (Darth Maul perhaps?) If you zoom in, you might even see Freddie Krueger. What's your take on this? Whatever it is, this proves that Vader's experiment to freeze prisoners in ESB was a success and eventually copied by bounty hunters throughout the galaxy.

3) Director Krennic must be proud to know that his beloved Death Troopers are still around even after the demise of the Empire. Seconds after this shot, them Death Troopers can be seen answering to someone presumably a former high officer of the Empire. There must be something special about these zombie-like troopers that allowed them to persevere longer than the average Stormtrooper.

4) One of the coolest image from the trailer is IG-88 finally showing his fighting skills! I've only read about the dude's exploit in the Tales of the Bounty Hunter book and (both) Clone Wars animated series. Truthfully I've been praying to see him in action on the big screen ever since. I can't wait to see what else can he do in the series.

With such a spectacular trailer for The Mandalorian, I have high hopes for the upcoming series on Cassian Andor (& K2S0) and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's looking rather good for the Star Wars universe right now. I believe Disney will announce many more in the coming months and this can only be good for fans who like to see the Star Wars cinematic universe being expanded beyond the films. Having said that, I'd rather have good quality TV Star Wars series than a mediocre Star Wars film any time any day.

Nuff said.

With Star Wars out of the way, I'd like to end today's posting with these two images I found off the 'net today. One will completely blow you away and the other will warm your heart.

1) Here's a post taken off Facebook that shows a very less-than-tactful response to Hawkeye's failure to save Natasha in Avengers: Endgame. BURN!!!!

2) Apparently here's how Edward Furlong looked like during the recent Silicon Valley Comic Con, a VERY far cry form that 'street-bum' look that was caught on camera some years back. Very happy for the man for getting back into the human race and for landing back the role of John Connor in the upcoming Terminator: Dark Fate movie that's coming out in Oct '19.
