Freakin' hillarious!!!!......Beatles Rock Band: Office Commercial..

My wife and I still haven't bought ourselves a PS3 as of date. Will probably do that once (if!!! fingers crossed!!!) bonus comes in at the end of the year. Anyway, one of the first games that we've targeted, besides the excellent Ghostbusters: The Game, is the Beatles Rock Band. I've rambled about that game sometime ago in my earlier post.

Well, truth be told, many have labeled this as the best Rock Band franchise as yet, but I truly feel that being a Beatles fan will definitely help you to enjoy the game more. Being Fab Four fanatics ourselves, this will definitely be among the first to be picked up along with our future PS3 console!

Astonishingly, I found this "Office Commercial" created especially to promote the game on youtube. I'm guessing that this is part of a series of commercial released in conjunction of the official release date way back on 09.09.09. This is one HELLUVA FUNNY commercial! Watch this 3 minute video....will tickle yer funny bone, regardless if you're a Beatles fan or otherwise!

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland....ETA: March 5, 2010!

Just to build up the hype and fans' anticipations, teaser posters of the upcoming Tim Burton movie, Alice in Wonderland have been released recently. The film boasts an impressive cast including JOHNNY DEPP as the Mad Hatter, HELENA BONHAM CARTER as the Red Queen and STEPHEN FRY as the Cheshire Cat. The main protagonist is played by newcomer and rising star MIA WASIKOWSKA. I can't wait for March 2010!!! This promises to be more weirder than Beetlejuice and much more creepier than Sleepy Hollow or Sweeney Todd!

To quote Johnny Depp's crazy character from the movie...."There is a place, like no place on earth. Some say to survive it, you need to be mad as a hatter - which thankfully I am."

And there's the excellent 1/6 action-figure of the Mad Hatter by Medicom....really good reproduction and likeness...but sadly the ridiculous price tag puts off most collectors. Let's hope that Hot Toys or Sideshow picks up this license as well....then we'd get a decently priced version of him!

El purchaso aka more plastic therapy @ 2nd week Nov '09........

More plastic goodness for my self-therapy! It has been quite a week for me as far as action-figure collecting go. First of all, my long awaited Mattel shipment finally arrived on my doorstep (okay, so I wasn't home at that particular point of time....had to fetch it the day after at the Post Office!).....after a month of waiting, shucks! The package from matty-collector is definitely the high-point of my November collection. Let alone that I still haven't received my DX Joker from my toy-pusher as of date...*sigh*. Let's take a look at my spoils for the week (no, I didn't buy them all at once, it just so happened that the Mattel shipment came at the same time! :P)........

(1) 6" Ray Stantz........woohooo, now bring on Winston and Peter!!!!

(2)What is this? What could the mysterious MOTUC figure be? I'm pretty sure most of you would be able to guess...*hint* refer to matty-collector's page to see what was on sale in Oct....heeheheh....(review on this MOTUC figure to be done later....)

(3) Further contributions to HASBRO.......hey, these were on a 25% discount!

(4) I had my eyes on these Toy Story figures for quite some time (I only wanted Woody and Zurg initially.....but upon seeing Buzz and Jessie.....I just had to get 'em all! Darn you Mattel!!!!)....I had my doubts but was given the final 'push' by my dear wife! LOL!!! I'm glad I did though, these figures have superior sculpt and paintjobs!

Now, where's my DX 01??!.....*grumble, grumble*

Let's hear it (again) from Sir Alex Ferguson.....rants, rants and MORE rants!

Is he losing it? Hahah...just when i thought he couldn't get any more absurb, he's at it again!!! Chelsea's win over Man-yoo yesterday (courtesy of John Terry's header) was inevitably going to invite some serious rants from Sir Alex, and he didn't disappoint!!!

The Manchester United boss was already in hot soup with the English FA over labelling Alan Wiley 'unfit' during the Sunderland match which ended in a 2-2 draw some time back. This time its' referee Martin Atkinson's turn to be showered with nice 'praises' from Sir Alex!

This time, he was furious over the free-kick that led to Terry's header and claimed Didier Drogba fouled Wes Brown as he tried to clear the ball. I'm not saying that Chelsea's freekick wasn't a valid one, it's just that sometimes football can be cruel. It's those instanteneous decisions that end up costing a team valuable points. But hey, it's football. We continuosly depend on human (referee) judgements, either good or bad to decide how a game proceeds and ultimately the outcome of the game. It's just the way things are. Sometime ago, there was even a suggestion to use video evidence post-match to clear up those controversial moments, but the idea was shot down....citing that it will take the drama away from the pitch.

*Sigh*...I guess some people will never get it!

Plastic therapy aka El purchaso for 051109.....thank you Hasbro!!!

I had a considerably crappy week at work.....LOL! No need for details here....*sigh* it'll just bore you. Enough to know that I managed to shrug those 'miserable' feelings away when I got to see me' wife and son right after work. Our proceeding customary trip to our nearest TRU proved to be fruitful too as I managed to snag these 2 hard-to-find figures.

They were restocking the Rise of Cobra figures and I noticed that there were only 2 of 'The Doctor' on display....a no-brainer there. With this, I'm only left with Cover Girl and Zartan to complete my 'main/screen' characters (I'll get those later when they get marked-down....hahaha!). Point to ponder....I can't decipher why Hasbro produced so many figures of those characters who did NOT even make any appearance NOR mentioned in the movie? Come on...where were 'Bench Press', 'Grand Slam', 'Speed Metal' etc. in the movie?! Milking the cow dry, dear Hasbro?

On the Star Wars front, I can't understand though....why the heck did Hasbro Malaysia release the new Wave 8 Legacy figures in 'selected stores'? Some TRU only had the new vehicles but not the figures....and some did have the figures but in very limited quantities. Nevertheless, I got my hands on the Han Solo in stormie armour figure (already have Luke, but I was ever-so tempted to get another one! Me and my weakness to the nice packaging ploy.....d*** you Hasbro!).

So, thank you Hasbro for taking my hard-earned dough (again and again!).....and for making my day in my times of despair.... :p

"V" 2009 TV Series....

For those who remembered the original 1983 mini-series well, I'm pretty sure that by now you're in the know that the 're-imagined' series has just premiered on ABC Network on Nov 3 in the States. The pilot episode is one of four to be shown throughout the month of November and the series will resume in March 2010 after the 2010 Winter Olympics to complete the 13 episode series.

I remembered the struggles of Mike Donovan and gang very well from the original mini series so when I first heard that the whole 'V' franchise was going to be 're-imagined'.....I had my doubts straight away. I mean, why fix something that isn't broken? As a die-hard 'V' fan  (yup, I've even read the 'authorised' follow-up novel by Kenneth Johnson and had watched the DVDs many many times!***geek alert!***), I thought that it would have been better if they had picked up where the original TV series had left off. *SPOILER ALERT*.....you know, the part where Diana planted a bomb on the Leader's spacecraft as The Starchild decided to follow him back to his homeworld?

Who can ever forget the uber-evil Diana? Cold-blooded (literally) and ruthless Visitor officer who wouldn't stop at nothing to pursue her ambitions, ever if it means going against her superiors.

Anyway, let alone the fact that Kenneth Johnson (the creator of the whole 'V' universe) did not authorise the ensuing TV series (the one which proceeded the mini series in 1983), he has absolutely no say in this new 2009 version.

However, I applaud ABC Network's efforts to  recognise the fans of the original series by finding out from them what they remembered most about the original '83 mini series. Among the top responses included "the huge ships, the red uniforms, eating the hamster, the alien baby; and the human-latex masks used to hide the Visitors' true reptilian selves. Top executives at ABC mentioned that "We are well aware of those moments and looking to put our own little spin on them to tip our hat to the old audience."

Well, whatever it is, I look forward for these 4 episodes to be aired in Malaysia (or through bootleg DVDs, whichever first....even though I've already watched the pilot episode on youtube...heheheh..). Let's give it a chance...who knows, it might just recaptured the magic of the original mini series! Revive those magical 80s TV series!! (The A-Team's next by the way!!!)

Give me sight beyond sight....AWESOME Thundercats statues!!!

We've been marvelling them DCU Classic figures and the ever-in-demand MOTU Classic figures from matty-collector for quite some time now. It is time for those nice people to consider doing the next best 80s classic cartoon characters....Thundercats!!!! Ahh, I remember bashing those good 'ol Kenner toys against each other in the mid 80s, without knowing that many years later they would rise in value and be severely sought after.....*ARGHH!*

I found a picture of some wicked Thundercats statues done by one brilliant fan called ddgcom. It's high time for Mattel or some other toy manufacturer pick up the license and produce these in their 6" glory! If you can't do it, then hire this ddgcom dude to design them for you! Take a look at the picture below and dare tell me you're not left in awe!!! (Click on the picture for a bigger/better view)

Check it out as it originally appeared on his webpage here.
