DX-08 & DX-09 have just blown my mind!

joker 22

Hot Toys DX09 - Michael Keaton Batman

Nuts. There goes my plan to have more savings in 2012. These two will arrive anytime in Q1, 2012. After the excellent Christopher Reeve Supes, these two will further inflict further damage to classic fans' pockets!

Dwayne Johnson as "Roadblock" in G.I. Joe 2!!!!

Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock in GI Joe 2

Yup, that's right. "The Rock" has been cast as Roadblock in the upcoming sequel to the '08 Joe live-action film. Rumours on the net has it that the movie was originally entitled GI Joe 2: Cobra Strikes but had its title changed to GI Joe: Retaliation. Can't wait for the movie. I totally dig the 1st movie no matter what the critics lambasted/criticized! The movie is slated for a June 2012 release.

Now could we (pretty) please get teaser pictures of the rest of the 'new' addition into the 'Joe line-up? *cough*....Lady Jaye...*cough*....Flint...*cough*....

2011 SDCC Exclusive: Marvel Legends Thor!

SDCC 2011: Marvel Legends Thor

The recently-ended 2011 SDCC can only mean one thing to us collectors on the other side of the globe - them exclusive toys are gonna make their way to us finally! I was most impressed with (and truly wish I had the moolah to get) the Hasbro Star Wars "Death Star" VOTC 14-figure pack. But unfortunately I only had the dough to get only one item from the influx of SDCC '11 items that had suddenly flooded the local market here in KL, Malaysia. The funny thing is, I've read somewhere that there's a shortage of these exclusives in the States. Ain't that funny? I mean, they came from the States, which means that any shortages would definitely imply that Hasbro had something to do with the whole conspiracy to drastically increase the demand of US-based collectors for these items.....*phew* you get the drift? Anyway, conspiring theories are hard, let's just stick to what we know best....and that is 'geek-blogging'! Right, as you may already have guessed from the picture above, I got myself the Marvel Legends 'Heroic Age' Thor!

2 reasons why we'd be counting days till June 20, 2012....

Dark Knight Rises_Anne Hathaway as Catwoman

Dark Knight Rises_Tom Hardy as Bane

Yup, that's right. Everybody's highly anticipating the final Christopher Nolan Dark Knight movie. Top picture, it's our first look at Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. It's still unknown whether she's already in her Catwoman gear or otherwise. Most importantly, what the heck is Selina Kyle/Catwoman doing on the Batpod?! On the other hand, the second picture shows Tom Hardy as Bane aka the man who broke the Bat! Scary facial mask! He ain't the Bane we know from the comic series but he certainly looks the part of a deranged escaped prisoner pumped with drugs!

Hey, whatever happened to the proposed plan to let Joseph Gordon-Levitt play The Joker?! Is he not part of the 3rd movie?

First look at the NEW Superman!

henry cavill_superman

Behold! The first official image of Henry Cavill in costume for Zack Snyder's Superman reboot, titled "Man of Steel". This represents our very first look yet at the British actor portraying the iconic DC Comics superhero.

Verdict: He looks bad a**! Wow, them folks at Warner/DC is really trying hard to erase any memories of Brandon Routh from our minds!

"Man of Steel" stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Julia Ormond as his wife Lara Lor-Van, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White.

Man of Steel is slated for a June 2013 release.

MOTU Hot Wheels found!

MOTU Hot Wheels found!

Okay, I gotta admit. I'm not a huge Hot Wheels fan, save for those exceptional few. So naturally I didn't have any knowledge whatsoever on the release of the items pictured above.

I was passing through the toys section of a nearby shopping center on my way home from the train station today and I stumbled across these! Man, endless milking by Mattel! Them cars come in 8 different models and they're about 7 bucks each...am pretty sure they're overpriced over here in Malaysia....   =p  Nevertheless, great packaging art!

Quick review: Thundercats 2011!

Friday, 29th July '11 marked the day when fans were finally treated with the pilot episode of the new 2011 Thundercats series. Gosh, how long has it been since the heydays of the classic 80s cartoon days? It's nice to see that those much beloved 80s classic cartoon series are getting the royal treatment they so deserved, thus enabling them to be introduced to a brand new generation of fans.

Unfortunately, we Malaysian fans were not so privileged to watch the pilot episode at the same time as our compatriots in the States. If ya ask me, 15 years ago I might have been pretty stressed out for missing out on possibly one of the coolest cartoon series of the new millennium but nowadays we gotta thank the wonders of Youtube for making things possible for us!

My honest opinion? These new 'Cats look more like Japanese anime cartoon characters. Upon second glance, the 'Cats even look like elves! Make no mistake, this new 2011 'Cats series is a reboot and NOT a remake of the 80s series.Good thing about the 'reboot' version is that we won't be linking the old series to this new one, so let's leave the 80s series as it is.

I for one, am very disappointed to learn that Snarf can't talk as opposed to his very cheery/worry self from the 80s cartoon series. Ironically, these new 'Cats fear technology (blasphemy?) in contrast to the 80s series where the show often saw the 'Cats lead by Panthro consistently use 'technology' to defeat them bad guys.

Before I end my super-quick assessment of the new 'Cats series, here's an interesting trivia for 'ya......King Claudus' (that's the king & Lion-O's daddy from the new series) voice actor is Larry Kenney, the SAME voice actor who voiced Lion-O, Jackalman & Snarf in the classic 80s series! Bring on more episodes!

That's it from me today......Thunder, thunder, thundercats......HOOOOO!!!!
